Laos Culture Heritage Discover – LuangPrabang VangVieng Vientiane 8 Days
Detailed Itinerary:
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN LUANG PRABANG (D)
Flight to Luang Prabang. Arrive and transfer to hotel, check in and promenade around city. Dinner at local restaurant Overnight at: Muang thong hotel or similar.
DAY 2: LUANG PRABANG / PAK OU CAVES (B, L D)
6:30 am. Observation of the traditional Buddhist alms giving ceremony, walk to the morning bazaar.
After breakfast, we visit a temple, then we get on board for a cruise up the Mekong river, visit the mysterious Pak Ou caves with thousands of gilded Buddha statues. Visit to a traditional Lao village where Lao whiskey is produced, tasting of local alcohol. Then we return to Luang Prabang. Dinner at a charming restaurant. Overnight at: Muang thong hotel or similar hotel.
DAY 3: ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE (B, L D)
Become a “MAHOUD” and an elephant keeper.
The project “be like Machud” begins, participants will go to the village of “mahouda” – the guardian of elephants. The training will be organized by experienced Mahouds. We spend a few hours learning how to take care an elephant. We will learn how to bath an elephant in the river. Lunch at the Elephant Camp then return to then town.
At 5:00pm we start hike up Phousi hill, enjoy the sun set panoramic view of Luang Prabang. Then we walk down to the Ethnic night bazaar. Dinner and overnight MuangThong hotel.
DAY 4: TREKKING – KUANGSI WATERFALL (B, L D)
After breakfast, we drive out of city to a Khmu village, then we start our trek to Kuangsi waterfalls. We will meet the village’s elders, walk through forest and valley dotted with rice fields. The mountain trail finally reach the beautiful waterfalls of Tad Kuangsi. After a hard trek, we relax and swim in the turquoise lagoons of the waterfalls.
We return to Luang Prabang around 5:00 PM. (Laotian massage option after hard day).
Dinner at a local restaurant on the Mekong riverbank. Overnight Muang thong hotel.
DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG – VANG VIENG (B, L D)
After breakfast, we visit temple and sight-seeing: National museum – former royal palace, Xieng Thong temple. Lunch in town. Then we transfer to train station. Departure at 13:50 – arrived in VangVieng 14:50.
We then transfer to hotel and drive to the small lake for sunset on island. Dinner and overnight at Silver Naga hotel.
DAY 6: VANG VIENG – VIENTIANE (B, L D)
Time for small tubing or kayaking trip on the Nam Song River. Then we see Tham Chang cave used in the 19th century to defend against the Chinese. A beautiful view of whole area from this cave. Then we drive to Vientiane. Dinner at local restaurant by the Mekong.
DAY 7: VIENTIANE (B, L,D)
Sight-seeing of Laos capital: Wat Sisaket (Temple of a Thousand Buddhas), Patuxai Monument (known as the Vientiane Triumph Arch), Haw Pha Kaew, a royal temple built to house the famed Emerald Buddha, Pha That Luang (Great Sacred Stupa). A visit to the banks of the Mekong and a simple lunch (Laotian soup) in local restaurants. In the afternoon, we visit Buddha park in XiengKhuan. Overnight in Vientiane.
DAY 8: VIENTIANE – DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast in the hotel, morning market visit. Free at leisure until we transfer to airport for departure. Thank you for taking the tour Laos Culture Heritage Discover – LuangPrabang VangVieng Vientiane 8 Days. Goodbye Laos.
