Laos capital passing – Luang Prabang VangVieng Vientiane 7 Days
Detailed Itinerary:
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN LUANG PRABANG (D)
Arrive in Luang Prabang, airport / train station pick up and transfer to hotel. Free at leisure, dinner at local restaurant. Overnight Muang thong hotel or similar hotel.
DAY 2: LUANG PRABANG / PAK OU CAVES (B, L D)
6:30 Observation of the traditional Buddhist alms giving ceremony, walk to the morning bazaar.
After breakfast, we visit a Buddhist temple. Then we have a scenic boat trip up the Mekong river and visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves with thousands of gilded Buddha statues. Visit to a traditional Lao village where Lao whiskey is produced, tasting this whiskey. Back to Luang Prabang, we have dinner at a charming restaurant. Overnight at Muang thong hotel.
DAY 3: ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE (B, L D)
Become a “MAHOUD” and an elephant keeper.
The project “be like Machud” begins, participants will go to the village of “mahouda” – the guardian of elephants. The training will be organized by experienced Mahouds. We spend a few hours learning how to take care an elephant. We will learn how to bath an elephant in the river. Lunch at the Elephant Camp then return to then town.
At 5:00pm we start hike up Phousi hill, enjoy the sun set panoramic view of Luang Prabang. Then we walk down to the Ethnic night bazaar. Dinner and overnight MuangThong hotel.
DAY 4: TREKKING – KUANGSI WATERFALLS (B, L D)
After breakfast, we drive out of city to a Khmu village, then we start our trek to Kuangsi waterfalls. We will meet the village’s elders, walk through forest and valley dotted with rice fields. The mountain trail finally reach the beautiful waterfalls of Tad Kuangsi. After a hard trek, we relax and swim in the turquoise lagoons of the waterfalls.
We return to Luang Prabang around 5:00 PM. (Laotian massage option after hard day).
Dinner at a local restaurant on the Mekong riverbank. Overnight Muang thong hotel.
DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG – VANG VIENG (B, L D)
After breakfast, we visit temple and sight-seeing: National museum – former royal palace, Xieng Thong temple. Lunch in town. Then we transfer to train station. Departure at 13:50 – arrived in VangVieng 14:50.
We then transfer to hotel and drive to the small lake for sunset on island. Dinner and overnight at Silver Naga hotel.
DAY 6: VANGVIENG SIGHT-SEEING (B, L D)
Time for tubing or kayaking on the Nam Song River. Then we visit Tham Chang cave – used in the 19th century to defend against the Chinese. The cave offers a beautiful view of the whole area. Dinner at Vang Vieng and time to explore night life VangVieng. Overnight at Silver Naga hotel.
DAY 7: VANGVIENG – VIENTIANE (B, L)
Departure to Vientiane on express way. On arrival Vientiane, we start sight-seeing tour: cash exchange, Wat Sisaket (Temple of a Thousand Buddhas), Patuxai Monument (known as the Vientiane Triumphal Arch), Pha That Luang (Great Sacred Stupa).
