Day 1: LUANG PRABANG – MUANG HIUM (L, D)

We go from Luang Prabang to NongKiaw, and on to Vieng Thong. On arrival Ban That Hium, also called as ViengThong, we enter the area of Nam Et Phou Louey national park, where we can go swimming in natural hot spring Muang Hiam. We get back to ViengThong. Overnight at Dok Khoun Thong hotel.

Day 2: MUANG HIUM – VIENG XAI CAVE (B, L, D)

A long day travel through the mountains towards Sam Neua and ViengXai. After Phou Lao instersection, we we pass several stone cliffs, surrounded by untouched natural area. After Houa Mang village, we will see Mt Phou Leuy +2,052 meter on the left side. And on the right side is Mt. Phou Pane +2,079 meter elevation. Its summit seems to reach toward the sky. The Hmong and Khmu villages along this road remind us of ancient Laos culture.  Have a quick break in Sam Neua,  we keep on 30km to visit Vieng Xai Cave, which harbored and protected the Lao government during the war. Hidden inside the rocks, the communist comrade’s administration went on, while outside war ravaged. Also we will learn about real Lao silk weaving. Admire the skills of Lao weavers and get some good quality silk for souvenir. Overnight in ViengXai Naxai guesthouse.

 Day 3: VIENG XAI – MUANG KHAM (B, L, D)

We travel back to SamNeua and PhouLao junction on hw6, then going down hill to Nam Neun valley. Have break time walking around the local market at NamNeun river. Then we ascend a 20km pass with winding road around mountains at elevation 1,500 meter above the sea level.  Passing many tribal villages, then we have about 20km down hill to MuangKham. Lunch break in town. In the afternoon, we visit Piew Cave, where an estimated 300 refugees from the second war died during a bomb attack. Their bones still mix with the rocks in this spooky place, a demonstration of the cruelty of war.
We go for a dip in Nam Un Noy hot spring, time for relax after a long day traveling. This is an outdoor hot spring pool with hot mineral water that might calm the mind and nourish the body. The gorgeous scenery surrounding the hot spring also contributes to the relaxing experience.

Day 4: MUANG KHAM – PHONSAVAN (B, L, D)

We spend one hour drive to Phonsavan today. On arrival Phonsavan, we start touring around the city, watching out for bombs of the second war used as construction material. We visit three main sites of the mysterious Plain Of Jars. The site 3 is little far from town, and you will walk about 1,5km through small trail on rice paddies to the site. Explore the area, take some unique pictures or support the local Mine-Clearing-Organization. Overnight at Anoulackhenlao hotel.

Day 5: PHONSAVAN – VIENTIANE (B, L)

On the last day we travel to Vientiane via Vang Vieng. It takes about 2 hours up in the mountain to PhouKhun on hw7, the road is winding around with stunning scenery. Then we turn to hw 13 to Kasi and on to VangVieng. Have a break for lunch in VangVieng, then we go all the way to the Lao capital Vientiane. Our tour ends at your hotel in Vientiane .
